Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 13, 2025
Location of Operations: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
At Erome, we take privacy seriously. This policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and safeguard information from both creators and visitors across our platform. Our infrastructure and protocols comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and reflect best practices across privacy-first platforms.
1. What Data Do We Collect?
We collect minimal data and only what’s necessary to ensure platform functionality:
a. Visitor Data
- IP addresses (temporarily stored for security)
- Device type and browser version (for optimization purposes)
- Approximate geolocation (country-level only, for content filtering)
b. Creator Account Data
- Email address (for login and notifications)
- Display name and public profile metadata
- Uploaded media (videos, photos, captions, tags)
- Album-level privacy preferences
c. Optional Metadata
- Password-protected albums
- Tags, categories, and visibility settings
- Viewer stats (anonymous unless registered)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this data to:
- Maintain the functionality and integrity of the platform
- Prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
- Improve upload speeds and media playback by region
- Notify creators of account changes or feature rollouts
3. Data Hosting & Jurisdiction
All Erome media and metadata are hosted on Canada-based servers to meet local compliance standards. Backups and content delivery network (CDN) integrations are also localized to prevent unnecessary cross-border data transfers.
4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Erome uses essential cookies only. These help:
- Remember viewer preferences (e.g., dark mode)
- Support login sessions
- Optimize video buffering speeds
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or retargeting pixels.
5. Viewer Anonymity
Unlike traditional platforms, Erome allows anonymous access to public content. We do not require account creation for browsing, and we do not log or share personally identifiable information unless legally required to do so under Canadian federal law.
6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
If you are a Canadian resident, you have the right to:
- Access any personal information stored by Erome
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
- Withdraw consent for data use (which may impact service)
For data access or deletion requests, email [email protected] with the subject line: Privacy Request.
7. Content Ownership
All media uploaded to Erome remains the intellectual property of its original creator. Erome does not claim ownership or license unless explicitly granted in writing by the user.
Creators can delete their content at any time. Once removed, files are purged from our CDN and database caches within 72 hours.
8. Children’s Privacy
Erome is restricted to users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Any detected underage usage is flagged for review and deletion.
9. Third-Party Access
Erome does not sell or rent user data. Limited third-party access is granted only for:
- CDN performance management (e.g., Cloudflare Canada)
- Anti-spam and abuse monitoring (e.g., automated filters)
- Legal obligations from Canadian regulatory agencies
10. Security Protocols
Our platform uses:
- SSL encryption across all pages
- HTTPS streaming for video delivery
- Firewall and DDoS protection
- Regular penetration testing by Canadian cybersecurity vendors
11. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes. All updates will be time stamped and archived for transparency.
You will be notified by email (if registered) or via a banner announcement when substantial changes occur.
